The Library pays for these benefits:

  • Health Insurance—80/20 Standard Plan—Employees Only—The Library pays the monthly premium for part-time employees who enroll in the 80/20 Standard Plan—pro-rated for the number of hours worked per week.
  • Retirement Health Savings Plan—When employees reach 300 hours of accumulated sick leave, pro-rated for part-time employees, the Library contributes to a retirement health savings plan for them.
  • Employee Assistance Program—A variety of services (counseling, crisis management, resources for legal or financial concerns, resources for senior care needs) are available to employees and their immediate family members.


The Library offers additional insurance options paid for by employees:

  • Health Insurance—Premium Plan and Dependent Coverage—Staff pay the premium difference between the 80/20 Standard Plan and the Premium Plan and for added dependents.

Other Benefits

  • Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF)—All part-time employees are enrolled in IMRF.
  • IMRF Voluntary Additional Contribution (VAC)—Part-time employees may put a percentage of earnings into the IMRF VAC program.
  • Mission Square Roth IRA and 457 Plans—Part-time employees may put a percentage of earnings or set dollar amount into a Roth or 457 plan.
  • Credit Union—The credit union offers various accounts and loan options.
  • Flex Spending Plan—Part-time employees may put pre-tax dollars into a flex spending account that can be drawn on for qualified medical expenses.
  • Discounts on Library Services—Including purchases of library materials and discounted copying and faxing.
  • Free Parking—Parking is free in the Library employee lot.
