Beginning in April, our monthly Research Nights will frequently feature discussions and demonstrations on special topics.

Research Nights are open to the public. There is no charge or registration required. We look forward to seeing you!

April 10, 2013 - SPECIAL TOPIC: PERSI (Periodical Source Index)

At 7:00 pm, Champaign County Genealogical Society member, Carolyn Adams will demonstrate PERSI (Periodical Source Index), then index database created by the Allen County Public Library.  PERSI indexes the  numerous genealogy periodicals available here at the Champaign County Historical Archives, and many more held at the famous Fort Wayne, IN library.  Since the FGS 2013 Conference is being held in Fort Wayne, it would be good to have a list of those articles ready before arriving at the library!

May 8, 2013 - SPECIAL TOPIC: Beginning Genealogy Research

June 12, 2013 - SPECIAL TOPIC: Scanning Photographs and Transparencies

At 7:00 pm, Archives Librarian, Eric Fair, will introduce you to scanning photos, slides and negatives,  demonstrating the scanners that are available here at the Archives for public use.  Digital storage of family photo collections is important to both beginner and experienced researchers, so an expert demonstration will help us all.
