The Urbana Free Library is excited to announce upcoming changes as it wraps up its partial renovation project. The Library will close temporarily in December to prepare the first floor for reopening, followed shortly after by updated operating hours and an open house event to celebrate the reopening of the first floor.
The Library will be closed to the public on the following days to transition to the newly remodeled spaces:
- Monday, December 22, 2025
- Tuesday, December 23, 2025
The Library will also be closed on the following days in observance of winter holidays:
- Wednesday, December 24, 2025
- Thursday, December 25, 2025
- Thursday, January 1, 2026
Beginning Friday, January 2, 2026, the Library will introduce updated hours of service:
- Sunday: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Monday–Thursday: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Friday–Saturday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
In January 24, 2026, the Library will host Curiosity, Connection, and Celebration - A Library Open House, a free
event showcasing all that the Library has to offer. Patrons can explore the new spaces and enjoy a variety of activities,
including music, stories, crafts, and light refreshments.
