Champaign Urbana Ballet Presents Coppélia
Wednesday, May 14, 6:30 - 7:15 p.m.

Get ready for an extra-special event! Join dancers from the Champaign Urbana Ballet as they perform excerpts from Coppélia, a fast- moving ballet well suited for adults and children. Your senses will be treated to bright costumes and classic choreography set to the memorable melodies of Delibes. Dont miss this opportunity to see Coppélia, what has become “ballet’s greatest comedy.”

 

Summer Reading Begins May 27

Are you ready to sign up with the winning team this summer? Then you are ready for Get in the Game, READ! Our 2008 summer reading programs for children and teens begin on Tuesday, May 27, and end on Wednesday, August 27.

 

Pinocchio: A Marionette Show
Sunday, May 18, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

The Elsenpeter Marionettes tell the story of Pinocchio in a unique presentation that will inspire both adults and children. Come see our hero overcome his own selfishness, rescue his father, and become a “real boy!”

 

Boneyard Jazz Quintet
Sunday, May 18, 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.

Boneyard Jazz Quintet, one of CU’s most admired jazz bands, performs popular tunes by legends such as Duke Ellington and George Gershwin, as well as experiments with a variety of styles such as swing, Latin, and ballads. The band includes Armand Beaudoin (bass and cello), Jeff Magby (drums), Morgan Powell (trombone), Tom “Shab” Wirtel (trumpet and flugelhorn), and Woody Woodward (piano). UFLive! concerts take place on the third Sunday of each month and are made possible by a generous grant from The Urbana Free Library Foundation.
