Fan Con 19: Celebrating Comics and Fandom Since 2016

Saturday, August 10 • 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Dress up in your favorite cosplay and prepare for a day full of all the pop culture and geeky things you love.  At Fan Con '19, all fandoms are embraced: from dungeon crawling D&Ders to My Hero Academia-loving otakus to gamers who just want one more hour of Minecraft™ or Super Smash Bros™ to hardcore Supernatural fans who make memes for every situation.  Events for all ages and fandoms.

What’s Next?
– All caught up on your favorite show, game, or book series?  Join Library staff for recommendations on what to look at next!  From comics to TV, staff will tell you about hidden gems and new releases.

 

12:30 p.m. - 1 p.m. • Green St. Entrance • All Ages
Cosplay Photo Meetup
– Join the first-ever Fan Con group photo of everyone’s awesome cosplay!  Come show off all your hard work and creativity!

 

1 - 2 p.m. • MacFarlane-Hood Reading Room • All Ages
Create Your Own Mini-Comic  – Come learn how to create your own mini-comic book! You'll learn how to fold a single sheet of paper into a small book where all your drawings are on a single side for easy scanning and photocopying. Create your own short story and illustrate it however you'd like!

Speed Drawing Contest
- In a limited time, draw an original character or create your very own one-page comic.  Prizes for the winners!

Taking Your Fandom to the Next Level with Lynne Thomas
- Wish you could do more with your love for your favorite fandom?  Hear how seven-time Hugo Award winner Lynne Thomas transformed her love of pop culture into award winning magazines, podcasts, and books.

Trivia Challenge
– Think you know fandom?  Challenge yourself with trivia about movies, games, and TV shows.  How many can you answer?

Pathfinder®
The C-U Pathfinder Society is running short quests for the tabletop RPG Pathfinder®  from the Pathfinder® Beginner Box, and they can seat up to four players per quest.  If you've never played, don't worry; no experience is necessary!  Grab a pregen character and learn as you play!
