September is National Library Card Sign-up Month
Mayor Prussing is proclaiming that September is Library Card Sign-Up Month in Urbana. If you are reading this newsletter, you probably already have an Urbana Free Library card. We need your help in getting others the cards they are paying taxes for.
Children’s Services Library staff will be visiting different locations in September for on-site library card sign-up and we would love to visit you and your group, too. Email us at email@example.com or call us 217-367-4069 so we can make arrangements.
There are so many things you can do with your card in person and online – please come in or visit us at urbanafreelibrary.org to learn more.
Success starts at your public library – in person and online – and we hope to see you here soon!

Growing Readers One Book at a Time
The simple and enjoyable act of sharing books will help your child learn pre-reading skills such as understanding the sound letters make, developing a bigger vocabulary, and building background knowledge--important skills that help prepare your child for learning to read and entering kindergarten.
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a year-round reading program for children ages birth to five years and it’s coming to The Urbana Free Library on October 1, 2015. Participation is easy—sign up at the Library, track your reading progress, and receive special a reward when you reach a reading milestone.
It’s the fun, exciting, and free way to start your child on the path to success!
