September Is National Library Card Sign-up Month

The Urbana Free Library is joining with the American Library Association to raise awareness of the value of public libraries and the many things you can do with a library card.

Today’s public libraries go beyond books. The Urbana Free Library has video games, DVDs, audiobooks, eBooks, and board games. The Library provides access to electronic resources such as Lynda.com for professional development, Mango Languages for those interested in learning a new language, and Hoopla for entertainment for all ages (over 500,000 items available on Hoopla alone). You will also find the unexpected—sewing machines, guitars, telescopes, LCD projectors, 3D science models, and more!

If you don’t have a library card, sign up for one! If you have a library card, help spread the word about the great resources available at The Urbana Free Library. The Urbana Free Library is located in the heart of downtown Urbana and is open seven days a week. You also can find Library staff at community events, such as the Market at the Square and the Urbana Food Truck Rally.

Library staff would love to visit your group, organization, or business too. Email the Adult & Youth Services Department or call 367-4405 and we’ll be happy to arrange for a visit. We look forward to sharing the great things the Library has to offer.

Success starts at The Urbana Free Library—in person and online—and we hope to see you soon!
