Friends of The Urbana Free Library Spring Book Sale

Sunday, 1:00 - 4:30 p.m. (half-price sale)

You’re invited to join hundreds of fellow treasure seekers at one of the most anticipated events of the season! Members of the Friends have special access on Thursday evening to preview and the opportunity to purchase before the public sale begins on Friday (no electronic devices for scanning will be permitted on preview night).

Not a member yet? Join ONLINE or download the handy membership form, which you can drop in the mail or turn in at any Library service desk.

Each year, the Friends hold massive sales of great used books in spring, summer, and fall. You can also browse a selection of gently used books year-round at The Urbana Free Library Cafe and Friends Book Shop. Proceeds from book sales and the Book Shop support Library programs and the purchase of Library materials.

First Fridays Family Concert with Bones Jugs

Friday,  April 6 • 6:15 - 7:00 p.m.
For all ages • Busey-Mills Reading Room (First Floor)

Bones Jugs presents an eclectic spin on American styles from bluegrass to ragtime. The band may feature xylophone, banjo, guitar, upright bass, jug, bones, clarinet, kazoos, whistles, horns, and washboard. Good for listening, dancing, and foot tapping!

The Library will remain open until 8:00 p.m. for this special Imbibe Urbana event.

The Red Herring Fiction Workshop has been meeting at the Channing-Murray Foundation on the University of Illinois campus every Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. since 1980. Writers at every level are welcome.

Paint Your Own Masterpiece

UFLive! presents Wheeler/Pryor Duo Meets The Jokers

Sunday, April 15 • 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Today's concert features some of the most talented and in-demand performers in the area: Brad Wheeler, Armand Beaudoin, Dorothy Martirano, and Jim Pryor. The musicians have strong and diverse backgrounds in classical, contemporary art music, jazz, and Latin jazz with folk, gypsy, gypsy jazz, tango, and klezmer.

UFLive! concerts take place on the third Sunday of most months and are made possible by the generous support of The Urbana Free Library Foundation.

Young Artists Workshop Series:
Navajo Storytelling Through Art

Sunday, April 15 • 3:00 - 3:45 p.m.
For children of ages 5 and up; 7 and under with a caregiver
Megan's Reading Room (Children's Area)

Join us for the next installment of our Young Artist's Studio, featuring Navajo artist and educator Beverly Smith! Beverly will lead us through a storytelling and arts workshop featuring Baje Whitethorne's Sunpainters. Youth will hear a story and be guided through creating artworks inspired by stories of their own.

The Young Artists Workshop is a series of spring workshops sponsored by The Urbana Free Library and the Urbana Public Arts Program.

A Poetry Reading by the Quintessential Poets

A National Poetry Month event!

Come hear original work by members of the Quintessential Poets, all published writers from the Champaign-Urbana area who meet regularly to critique each other's work. The readers will be Frank Modica, John Palen, Elaine Palencia, and Pat Simpson. This is their third reading at the The Urbana Free Library, and it is open and free to the public.

Refreshments will be available.
