Hands-on Literacy, Math, and Science Kits
Kinesthetic learning (movement) and tactile learning (touch) are two learning styles that can be used to complement visual and auditory learning.
The Library now has hands-on literacy, math, and science kits that will support these additional learning styles. Designed primarily for children in preschool and elementary school, each kit comes in a clear plastic backpack and includes activities and resources to help teachers and caregivers create and share learning experiences.
Hands-on Literacy Kits were made possible in part through a generous gift by Barak Rosenshine.
Hands-on Math Kits were made possible in part through a generous gift by the PBS/Ready to Learn Grant and WILL-TV.
Hands-on Science Kits were made possible through a gift from Glenna Spitze in memory of Megan Spitze.
Exploration Kits assist children in learning math and science concepts in early childhood. They are conveniently packaged in a tub that contains picture books, an activity guide, and hands-on items for use in activities with children, including simple tools.
