The Girl from the Well

The Girl from the Well book coverWant to read something spooky for Halloween? I recommend The Girl from the Well by Rin Chupeco. Based on an ancient Japanese legend, Okiku was a servant girl in Japan when she was thrown down a well and murdered by the man she loved. As a spirit, Okiku restlessly wanders the earth to bring vengeance to those who harm children, just as it was done to her. Unable to make peace with her own death, she helps the souls of murdered children pass on to a peaceful afterlife, freeing their spirits from their killers. After centuries of this existence, Okiku comes across Tark, a teenage boy with mysterious, glowing tattoos. Okiku is immediately enamored with Tark and the demon imprisoned inside him. When Tark travels to Japan to get rid of the demon, it only grows stronger and more desperate to be released. Okiku struggles to proctect Tark while the evil contained within him is intent on killing them all.
