On the Road for Summer Reading

Logo for the 2018 Summer Reading Program - Reading Takes You Everywhere This is the time of the year the children’s services team visits k-5 students to promote the summer reading program. Starting this week, we will be visiting each Urbana elementary school for a day.  During this time, we will visit classrooms to share fifteen minute booktalks and promote this year’s summer reading program, Reading Takes You Everywhere.  We love sharing books, answering questions from kids, and inviting them to come visit us at the Library.  School visits will culminate in a Summer Reading Kick-Off Party on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 3-4:30 p.m. for all ages.  The event will include a world dance party with Congolese musicians Jean Rene Balekita and Bomoyi, world crafts with Spurlock Museum, coral reef activities with teacher Brandon Rutherford, and free ice cream.  Hope to see you there!  –Elaine B.
