In December, Almost “A” Trio shared an eclectic mix of gypsy jazz, classical and seasonal music, featuring the violin, piccolo bass, piano, accordion, didgeridoo, ocean drums, sleigh bells, and even a donkey’s jaw! This morning Jean Rene Balekita and Bomoyi will offer gospel and jazz with an African rhythm. If you haven’t seen them before, you are in for a treat. They have performed in Africa, Europe and the United States. We are so lucky to have them join us today. (Last time I heard them perform, they included a thunder tube in their instruments. This inspired the thunder tubes in our Rainmaker backpack that you can check out with your Library card!) Next month we are excited to feature youth performers from the Banks Bridgewater Lewis Fine Arts Academy who will be performing jazz and popular music. March will bring the Transit Brass Trio with trumpet, french horn, and trombone, followed in April by the Knights of Cabria - featuring high-energy dance music from Latin American and Eastern European countries – as a part of the Boneyard Arts Festival. And as always, these concerts are FREE, thanks to the generous financial support of Peggy and Bob Podlasek. We welcome the WHOLE family to these concerts – babies, toddler, preschoolers, elementary age children, teens, and adults. We want everyone to have the opportunity to hear the amazing musicians who are part of our community! We look forward to seeing you soon! - Elaine B.
