Summer (listening) reading

family on a car tripIf there are some long car trips in your near future don’t forget to stock up on some of your library’s great selection of books on CD. This can be a great way for the whole family to pass the time, share a great book and reduce the amount of bickering time for kids trapped in the car. The label on each plastic tells you the number of discs and number of hours each book takes. Two of the many new titles we have are Beverly Cleary’s Henry and the Paper Route read by Neil Patrick Harris(!) and Sid Fleischman’s Mark Twain biography entitled The Trouble Begins at 8.

Also remember for our younger patrons that we have picture books and easy to read books with CD available for checkout. These are very popular and have the CD of the story with the book. This collection is located on the shelves facing the windows behind the question desk. Some fun titles from this collection are Scrambled States of America Talent Show by Laurie Keller and a variety of Skippyjon Jones titles. This can be a huge help if you cringe at the thought of hearing “read it again!”.
