C-U Folk & Roots Festival Events @ The Library

The Champaign-Urbana Folk & Roots Festival is an annual event that promotes the folk arts and contributes to the artistic vitality of central Illinois. The festival takes place at various locations in downtown Urbana, November 3 - 5, 2016.

As a venue sponsor, the Library is pleased to participate in this vibrant community event. All festival events at the Library are FREE and will take place in the Lewis Auditorium, Busey-Mills Reading Room, and Satterthwaite Conference Room.

Performances in the Busey-Mills Reading Room:

  • 10:30 a.m. - Jordan Kaye (Folk/Americana)
  • 11:45 a.m. - Jimmy Keane (Irish accordion)
  • 1:15 p.m. - Coneflowers (Folk music)
  • 2:45 p.m. - Martha Scanlan (Singer - songwriter)
  • 4:00 p.m. - Thunder Medicine (Native American music and drumming)

Performances in the Lewis Auditorium:

  • 10:00 a.m. - Ginny O'Brien (Children's songs)
  • 10:30 a.m. - Mister Stephens (Songs for kids of all ages)
  • 11:00 a.m. - Prairie Breezes presents Andrew Heathwaite (Family folk music)
  • Noon - Local Storytellers Showcase
  • 1:00 p.m. - Janice Del Negro (Storytelling)
  • 2:15 p.m. - Women in the Blues Workshop with Gaye Adegbalola
  • 3:45 p.m. - Mountain Dulcimer Jam

Workshops in the Satterthwaite Conference Room:

  • 2:15 p.m. - Wordsmithing with Janice Del Negro: The Practical Construction of Effective Narrative Language

This month’s special Prairie Breezes concert is a collaboration of The Urbana Free Library and the C-U Folk & Roots Festival and is generously sponsored by Peggy and Bob Podlasek in memory of Greg Bliss
