New graphic memoirs

I recently read two excellent new graphic memoirs that combine text and striking artwork to depict the authors' lives as young girls.

Mouse Guard: Fall 1152

Book jacketThe idea of mice—walking, talking, adventuring mice—is not a new one.  Most recognizably, the Redwall series by Brian Jacques had this same theme.  While Mouse Guard certainly took a great deal of inspiration from Redwall with its similar theme and setting, there is so much more to love about this

Body Snatching Gone Awry

Whenever I get in a reading rut, I always pick up a graphic novel to revive my love of reading. Some stories can bog a person down with alliteration, onomatopoeia, symbolism, metaphors, and other sorts of literary constructs.
