The Urbana Free Library Foundation

The Foundation is grateful for the community support which enabled us to so successfully complete the first phase of the library expansion, dedicated in May, 2005. Since then the Foundation has been working on projects that will continue to enhance the library for all its users. The potential projects are many and varied and can be undertaken as funds are available. The Foundation looks forward to raising additional funds for future projects and expansion

Among the most recent projects we have been able to fund is the Slow and Steady sculpture by Todd Frahm by the Green Street entrance. This project was also funded by contributions made through the sale of bricks.

The Foundation also funded construction of the Cherry Alley archway, making the walkway on the south side of the library building into a very special space. We have used the space for gatherings and celebrations, and expect to see many meetings, planned and informal, there in the future.

In 2006, library patrons have also seen new flower boxes for the Race Street porch of the Library. Planted and cared for by the Friends of the Library, the flower boxes have been an important part of the façade of the Library for the past twenty years. Don't forget to look for the new boxes.

Gifts to The Urbana Free Library Foundation are tax deductible. All contributions to the Foundation will be used exclusively for the benefit of the Urbana Free Library. For questions about projects, call Debra Lissak, Library Director, at 217-367-4057.
