Are you a fan of gorgeous photographs? Do you enjoy Urbana Free’s art collection?
Thanks to the generous book sales sponsored by the Friends of The Urbana Free Library, we’ve recently obtained an incredible photography set that blends both elements of art and beauty--
National Geographic: Around the World in 125 Years.
The publisher, Taschen, delved into the National Geographic Archives with permission and selected a dazzling array of photographs—many never published before.
The massive 3 volume set—all 43 pounds of it—contains 1468 pages of photographs, plus essays about photographers and more. The images range all over the world, covering the Americas & Antarctica, Europe & Africa, and Asia & Oceania. The variety of shots act as a history of photography, from black and white to color, from film to digital. The sets come with removable slipcases, which double as book rests.
While the covers of the volumes themselves are generic, the images inside are glorious. If you want to find out more about this fabulous set, publisher Taschen describes it in depth, and provides a more extensive preview of the iconic shots. Or, view the book trailer.
Please note that you need to place a hold on each individual volume.
