Children are invited to read away the winter blues and sign up for the 2014 Winter Reading Program!
Here’s how it works:
- Pick up a reading log at the Children’s Services question desk.
- Try to read at least 20 minutes a day.
- Use your crayons to color in a square on the log for each minute you read.
- Return your reading log to the question desk by March 21, 2014 and receive a free book!
Why read 20 minutes a day? The Children’s Reading Foundation calls the time that parents devote daily to reading to their young children, “the most important 20 minutes of their day.” When parents read to their children, it is commonly believed they not only have the opportunity to positively interact with them, but also foster strong, lifelong reading practices.
