Learn the basics of creating, editing, and customizing documents, including the use of built-in Word templates such as letters, flyers, and brochures, and inserting pictures and graphics. Also learn keyboard and mouse shortcuts that make document creation more efficient. Some familiarity with using a computer helpful.
Making the Most of the Web • February 2
Learn how to search for, evaluate, and navigate key websites as well as how to become a part of the online community, maximizing your web presence safely and using social media as a source of information and mode for sharing. Some familiarity with using a computer helpful.
Email Basics • March 2
Learn how to set up, send, and receive email, as well as etiquette and safety tips. Also discover differences in options and services offered by providers such as Gmail, Yahoo!, and Hotmail.
Being Professional on Paper • April 6
Learn tips for creating a professional cover letter, résumé, curriculum vitae, and more. Approximately one hour of instruction followed by one hour of document creation. Some familiarity with Microsoft Word and the Internet helpful.
The Full-time Job of Job Seeking • May 4
Find out how to use sources such as online job boards and employer websites to find jobs. Also learn tips for filling out job applications and required surveys. Some familiarity with the Internet helpful.
