Other Heroes: Going Graphic @ the Urbana Free LibrarySaturday, April 12, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Urbana-Champaign Big Read 2008 Comic books - and comic book heroes- have come a long way in the last ten years. "Graphic novels" are today's artistic, more complex, and beautifully produced comic books. This month, as part of our Heroes series, we host graphic novelists John Jennings and Damian Duffy to show and tell about their own comics, and comics they love.
Jennings, a professor in the UI Graphic Design Department, and Duffy have gained national attention for their collaborative work- creating comics, curating art exhibitions of comic art, and researching issues in popular culture. Saturday's program is open to teens and others interested in graphic novels.
