The Art of Yellowstone Science: Beautiful Photos & Cutting Edge Science
Saturday, February 25 • 3:30 – 4:30 PM • Lewis Auditorium
Art and science both originate from the same human desire to understand the world within and around us. In the recently released book The Art of Yellowstone Science, photographic art at Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park is melded with cutting-edge natural sciences to search for common laws of nature. The story combines the power of observation and a willingness to embrace the unexpected. Mammoth becomes a window on the universe, through which fundamental understandings of nature can be directly applied around the world and throughout the cosmos.
Presented by Professor Bruce W. Fouke, Departments of Geology and Microbiology, and the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Co-sponsored by the Prairie Group of Sierra Club and the Prairie Rivers Network
