Children’s Summer Reading Program

Are you ready to sign up with the winning team this summer? Then you are ready for Get in the Game, READ! Our 2008 summer reading program begins on Tuesday, May 27, and ends on Wednesday, August 27.

The library has two independent summer reading clubs that are designed to keep reading levels up and progressing during the no-school months.

  • Team Read-to-Me is a reading club for children who have not yet learned to read. If you are on Team Read-to-Me, you may select a special sticker for each group of five books read to you.

  • Team Read is a reading club for children through fifth grade. If you are on Team Read, sign up to read 10 books this summer. After you read 10 books, come to the Question Desk any time between July 1 and August 27, and select a free book or receive a certificate worth up to $6.00 at Pages for All Ages. But don’t stop reading! After the first 10 books, you are ready to enter our Extreme Reader Bonus!

Be sure to explore one or more of our many all-star programs for children this summer. For dates and times of all events, see our Children’s Department Calendar.

Books and certificates are made possible through the generosity of the Friends of The Urbana Free Library. For more information on the Summer Reading Program and for a complete list of programs, stop by or call the Question Desk at 367-4069.
