Located on the first floor, a self-service FAX machine is available for public use (outgoing transmission only).

    The library charges the following unit fees for self-service FAX:
  • Domestic FAX - $1.00 per page
  • International FAX - $4.00 per page

Photocopiers

Self-service public photocopiers are available in Adult Services, Children’s Services, and Archives.

    The library charges the following unit fees for self-service photocopies:
  • Black and white copies - 10¢ per page
  • Color copies - 50¢ per page

Assistive Technology

Loud-R Electronic Ear

Located in Adult Services, Children’s Services, and the Archives, the devices resemble a phone and can be used to have conversations with staff or to better hear the voices around you.

Document Magnifier (Telesensory Aladdin Genie)

Conveniently located in the MacFarlane-Hood Reading Room on the first floor, the Telesensory Aladdin Genie is a magnification device that allows printed material to be enlarged onto an adjacent monitor. Material can be viewed in full color, or you can select your own foreground and background display colors to make viewing easier.

ScreenScan

SScreenScan is a device attached to a microfilm/fiche reader. It allows you to scan the image on the microfilm screen and download it to the adjacent computer, where you can view or print the image in an enlarged format. Located in the Archives.

Adjustable-height Workstations

At least one workstation is available in every public computer area—Adult Services, Children’s Services, and Archives. The tables can be raised or lowered to accommodate your individual needs.

21” Monitor

21” monitors provide larger-than-normal viewing areas. They are particularly useful when you want to enlarge the text on the screen. Located in the Adult Services, Children’s Department, and Archives.

Fluorescent Magnifying Table Lamps

Located in Adult Service, the library’s fluorescent table lamps have built-in 5-diopter 3”x5” lenses and have a movable lamp head for easier reading.

Handheld Magnifiers with Lights

We have a supply of lighted, handheld magnifiers of different sizes and magnifications available for use in the Library. Located at the Adult Services Reference Desk, Children’s Question Desk, and Archives.
