Children’s Summer Reading Program
Scare Up a Book
Have a monstrously good time at The Urbana Free Library when you sign up for Scare Up a Good Book, the 2010 Children’s Summer Reading Program. The program this summer will begin on May 24 and end on August 24.
You can read or listen (if you dare) to mysteries, books about dragons or dinosaurs, or anything else you choose. Sign up at the Question Desk for one of our clubs and get a reading log.
The Read-to-Me Club is for children who have not yet learned to read. Follow the reading path and complete the activities to get a free book!
The Summer Readers Club is for readers through fifth grade who are ready to “Bite into a Book.” Sign up to read 10 books this summer and write down the names of the books you read in your reading log. After you read 10 books, come to the Question Desk any time between July 1 and August 24, and get a free book.
But don’t stop reading! After the first ten books you are ready to enter our X-treme Reader Bonus!
All participants will get coupons from local businesses that support summer reading. Book prizes are funded by the Friends of The Urbana Free Library.
X-treme Reader Bonus
Are you a speedy reader? For every five extra books that you read, you can enter a drawing for other great prizes. We gave out over 30 prizes from local businesses last year.
Just keep writing down the names of the books you’ve read on your reading log. After every five extra books, come to the Question Desk and get an entry form for our drawing.
The X-treme Reader Bonus drawing will be on Saturday, August 28. Not everyone will win an extra prize, but be sure to get to the library and write down all the books you have read by August 24 to increase your chances of winning. You don’t need to be at the library on August 28 to win.
