Play The Game
What do you do when you’re at the end of your rope? When you feel unloved, unwanted, ugly, desperate? Edie knew what this felt like. And she decided to kill herself. She planned everything perfectly. The thing she didn’t plan was a gorgeous guy named Kian giving her an alternative. A supernatural alternative.
Kian works for a group that senses when people are so depressed and distressed that they are close to suicide. They call it extremis. This group can also sense the unfulfilled potential that these people have if they live. So they offer a choice: kill yourself or join The Game. If you join The Game, you will get three favors. When your three favors are fulfilled, you will be asked for three favors in return.
When Edie witnesses first hand just how extensive Kian’s abilities are, she decides to give it a try. She has nothing to lose anyway. Her first request is to be beautiful. Not purely out of vanity, but she has plans. At the private school her parents send her to, there’s a group of students who have made her life miserable. They did an unnamable thing to her that finally pushed her over the edge. And now that she has a second chance, she’s going to use it give them a taste of their own medicine.
Soon, Edie discovers that there is a fine print to The Game that she wasn’t told about. There are unknown players, dangerous players, and no one she knows is safe. As terrifying as this new world she was introduced to is, one thing she learns is that she will never give up again.
