Summer Reading Program is Still in Full Swing

Summer Reading Programs at the Urbana Free Library : May 31-August 31The Summer Reading Programs at the Urbana Free LIbrary are going great and continue through August 31. In the Children's Department, we have over 500 children signed up for the Summer Reading Program with many already claiming their prizes. Readers receive coupons from area businesses (like Crystal Lake Pool, Putt Putt Golf, and Dairy Queen) plus a free book of their choice. Read to Me participants receive a free book. And, all who continue to read past their goal are entered into a raffle drawing that will occur the first week of September. Raffle prizes this year include Courier Cafe Shakes, a Walmart gift certificate, and Strawberry Fields gift certificates. In addition to the Children's Reading Program, "Paws to Read", the Children's Department continues to offer several animal themed programs in August. On August 5, journey back in time with the Museum of the Grand Prairie when they present an interactive program on "Settler Farm Pets". Then, come to our ever popular "Furry Friends Overnight" on Friday, August 8 which includes a "Pancake Breakfast" on Saturday morning. Also, bring your favorite pet to the Library and join in our "Paw-sitively Awesome Pet Show" on Wednesday evening, August 13. So, keep reading and join us for some fun August programs.    Janet R.
