I'm here! After living at the Champaign County Humane Society for a couple of months, I have arrived for a summer visit at The Urbana Free Library. Why the library? Well, because the Summer Reading Program this year is called Paws to Read, which means that it's all about animals!
Let me introduce myself - my name is Furball and I look a little like a panda bear, with black and white patches, even though I am a hamster. The staff have been very nice to me and always bring me tasty things to eat for my 5:00 feeding time. I also have a pretty nifty spaceship-looking exercise wheel. I am usually sleeping during the day, but sometimes I come out to see what's going on. You can even kind of see me in the green igloo where I sleep.
One of the best parts of being at the library is seeing all of the great books. Last night, I finished Liar and Spy by Rebecca Stead. Just when I thought the story was getting a little slow, POW, it changed really quick! If you like spy clubs, or puzzles, or wonder about friendships, it might be something you would like. At the end, you are wondering, exactly WHO is the liar and WHO is the spy?
That's all for now. Be sure to come down to the Children's question desk and say hello and sign-up for the Summer Reading Program.
Furball (as told to Elaine B.)
P.S. Oh, and did I tell you that you can bring a picture of YOUR pet, and the librarians will post it on the "dog house" so everyone can see!
