Cut, Paste, Imagine, & Create
DIY ‘Zine Making
Monday through Friday, July 12 - 16 • 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.
Lewis Auditorium
Whether you’ve got a story to tell; a poem to publish; a comic, graphic novel, or original art you’ve created; or an important message to share, you can learn how to publish it yourself by making your own ’zine.
A ’zine is a print publication created from the passion of the author(s) rather than from a desire to make money. During this five-day workshop, you’ll get the basics of making your own DIY publication and hopefully complete your first issue. Each day you’ll learn a new technique or skill such as layout and typography, ’zine binding, and cut-and-paste design. You’ll also have time to work on a project of your own or with a friend.
Got questions? Contact Carol at cinskeep@tufl.info or call 367-4405. Bring a friend! Snacks will be provided.
This workshop is brought to you by the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center Library and is paid for in part by a City of Urbana Arts Grant.

Children’s Winter Reading Program
While the snowflakes fall and the temperatures drop, kids and their parents can stay warm as they cozy up together with some great children's books as part of the Children's Services Winter Reading Program.
To join in the fun, come pick up a Winter Reading Program log at the children’s question desk between now and February 28 and take it home along with some books. Readers and listeners can use their log to take a journey along a winter reading path and complete and mark off 11 activities. Some of the activities include reading or listening to a book of your choice, reading or listening to an award-winning book, or reading and listening to a book about an animal.
Readers and listeners can bring their completed Winter Reading Program log to the children’s question desk anytime before March 15 to receive a children's book. Book prizes for the Winter Reading Program are made possible through the generosity of the Friends of The Urbana Free Library.
