Champaign County Genealogical Society

Founded in 1968, the Genealogical Society supports the Archives through the donation of books, as well as volunteer hours for the monthly Research Nights at the Archives.

Champaign County Historical Society

Founded in 1958, the Historical Society has been an affiliate of the library for over 40 years, supporting the Archives through the donation of a wide range of local history materials.

Champaign-Urbana Herb Society

Organized in 1975, the Herb Society is open to anyone interested in growing and using herbs. The Society maintains a fragrant and colorful herb garden in a sheltered and sunny area on the north side of the library’s Cherry Alley plaza.

City of Urbana, Illinois

The Urbana Free Library is the public library of the City of Urbana. With the help of four beautiful seasons, a richly diverse population, a Big Ten university, and vibrant arts and entertainment scene, the City of Urbana offers a variety of services, recreation, and culture.

Fred Schlipf, Past Executive Director of The Urbana Free Library

Fred was Executive Director of the library from 1974 to 2007. Named Illinois Librarian of the Year in 2000, Fred is also a library building consultant and Professor Emeritus of the University of Illinois Graduate School of Library and Information Science.

Millikin University

Millikin is an independent, four-year university in Decatur, Illinois. Students enrolled in Millikin’s Early Childhood and Elementary Education classes through Parkland College complete some of their courses here at The Urbana Free Library, using the expertise of our librarians and our excellent children’s collection.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

OLLI is part of a national network that recognizes learning has no age limits. Members of the community who join OLLI can take advantage of a rich array of lifelong learning opportunities. The library is an OLLI lifelong learning partner.

Parkland College

A leading community college located in Champaign, Illinois, Parkland College offers career programs, community classes, and online courses. Many of the genealogy and local history workshops offered through the Archives are in conjunction with Parkland College Community Education.

University of Illinois Graduate School of Library and Information Science

The Graduate School of Library and Information Science is consistently named the top library and information science program in the nation. Several staff from the library are currently adjunct faculty members of the library school.

Urbana Business Association (UBA)

The UBA promotes Urbana as a dynamic place in which to live and work. Members have access to marketing support, networking opportunities, and special events, including the Annual Urbana Sweetcorn Festival.
